Every file and folder that exists on your website has a set of permissions. If the files or folder’s permissions are misconfigured, your website might not work as expected.

You can easily fix your file permissions by opening your Websites → Manage, search for Fix File Ownership on the sidebar and click on it:

Tick the option to confirm that you want to set the files and folders to default permissions and click on Execute:

All done! Now you know how to fix your file and folder permissions 😊

NOTES:

  • Fixing file ownership will set the permissions to these values:

For files, the default setting is 644

For folders, the default setting is 755

  • If you wish to set the permissions to a specific setting, you can do just that straight from File Manager in both hPanel and cPanel
