Website Builder: Exporting your content

Transferring Website Content from Hostinger Website Builder to different website solutions

Updated today

If you use Hostinger Website Builder and want to export your website's content, you can proceed in two ways: you can export the content directly to WordPress, or you can manually import your content so that you can add it to your desired website solution.

  1. Exporting content to WordPress:

Note that not everything can be exported to WordPress. For example, you can’t export website styles and layout, online store, integrations, forms, collected submissions, or SEO settings.

You can export regular pages, texts, images, and other files. Find out more about the file types supported by WordPress 💡

Before proceeding, ensure that:

  1. You already have a WordPress website set up; if not, you can set one up at Hostinger by following this guide: How to add a WordPress website. The WordPress version must be 6.5 or higher, and the domain name must be propagated.

  2. Reset your WordPress website's permalinks structure to post name as in step 1 in this tutorial:

  3. Access your tools section and check the "Disable application passwords" box:

Make sure you disable your plugins as below:

Select all the plugins, click on "Bulk Actions", select "Deactivate," and click on Apply:

Then, within the builder, click on the ellipsis ⋯ button on the sidebar to open settings and select Export content to WordPress:

Insert the destination domain name that's already linked to your WordPress website and click on Start export:

You'll be redirected to the WordPress admin panel, where you must create a new application password. This password will be used only for the content export application.

Once that's done, click on Yes, I approve of this connection:

Once the export is completed, click on Go to WordPress site:

Finally, due to security reasons, it's recommended that you revoke the application password.

2. Exporting your content manually

If you're moving from Hostinger Website Builder and want to recreate your website elsewhere, you can manually transfer your content by following the steps below. This allows you to reuse your text, images, and media on any platform or tool of your choice.

Step 1 – Collect Your Website Content

  1. Open your existing website in the Website Builder and go through each page to locate the content you want to keep.

  2. Copy your text content. Highlight the text from each section (e.g., headings, paragraphs, blog posts), then copy and paste it into a document or text editor for safekeeping.

  3. Download your images and media files:

    • Right-click on each image and choose "Save As" to download it to your device.

    • If your site contains multiple images, check the Media Library to download them.

  4. Save additional files. Download any other content used on your site, such as PDFs, videos, or downloadable documents.

Step 2 – Organize Your Files

  1. Create folders on your computer to group content by page or section (e.g., Home, About Us, Services, Contact).

  2. Label images and documents clearly to make it easier to upload and place them later.

Step 3 – Rebuild Your Website Content on the New Platform

  1. Log in to your new website platform or tool. Start by creating blank pages or sections that match your original site structure.

  2. Paste your text content into the appropriate areas. Use the platform’s editor to format the text (headings, paragraphs, lists, etc.) as needed.

  3. Upload your saved images and media files. Add them to the correct locations within your new pages.

  4. Recreate any layout or design elements using the tools available in your new platform (such as columns, buttons, galleries, etc.).

Step 4 – Final Adjustments

  1. Review each page to ensure everything displays correctly.

  2. Check links, images, and formatting for consistency and accuracy.

  3. Preview your site and make any final changes before publishing.
