Setting up your Hostinger Email account on Mozilla Thunderbird

Updated over a year ago

To set up Hostinger Email on Mozilla Thunderbird manually, follow this article.

To set up Hostinger Email on Mozilla Thunderbird automatically, make sure that:

  1. You have created an email account with Hostinger Email

  2. Your domain is pointed to Hostinger

  3. The correct Hostinger Email MX records are added to your domain's DNS zone

Then, proceed with the steps below 👇

Step 1 – Add CNAME Records

To have Mozilla Thunderbird configured automatically, add the following CNAME records to your domain’s DNS zone:

Name (host)

Target (points to)

TTL

autodiscover.domain.tld

autodiscover.mail.hostinger.com

300

autoconfig.domain.tld

autoconfig.mail.hostinger.com

300

Make sure to replace the domain.tld with your actual domain name 💡

After creating the CNAME records, wait up to 24 hours for the changes to propagate worldwide. You may use the DNS Checker tool to check the progress of DNS propagation. Once the propagation is over, go to the next step.

Step 2 –Set Up Your Email Account on Mozilla Thunderbird

In Mozilla Thunderbird, create a new email account. The procedure may differ depending on your Mozilla Thunderbird version. Make sure to check this article for detailed guidance.

Once you insert the email address and password, give it some time; 10 minutes is usually enough. After that’s completed, Mozilla Thunderbird will be successfully connected to your mailbox at Hostinger 😊
