At Hostinger, we highly recommend installing an SSL certificate on all domains and subdomains hosted on your VPS. Whether you opt for a free SSL solution or a paid certificate, installing SSL ensures encrypted communication and boosts trust with your users.
You have a few options to install SSL depending on the control panel or operating system.
Free SSL
If your OS doesn’t include a control panel with SSL functionality or if you prefer a manual approach, you can use Certbot to install a free SSL certificate.
For operating systems that do include control panels with built-in SSL options, you can follow these guides:
These are just a selection of the OS panels we support. For other OS, ensure to consult your control panel’s official documentation or community forums.
Paid SSL
You can also install a paid SSL certificate, such as a wildcard SSL, if preferred. For installation instructions, refer to your SSL vendor's documentation.
NOTE
SSL certificates cannot be installed on IP addresses. Therefore, if you log in to your VPS panel using an IP-based URL, it may appear as "Not Secure". In that case, you can check out our guide on how to fix the "Your connection is not private" error on VPS.
