DirectAdmin is one of the OS templates available for our VPS plans. In this article, we will go through the process of migrating your website from DirectAdmin to Hostinger VPS with DirectAdmin. This will provide you with full control and increased speed. As there are two ways to migrate your website, we will go through each one at a time, but first, let’s generate a backup:

Generating backup

For a backup generation, we will use IV.LT provider as a reference. Login to IV.LT, click on Create/Restore Backups button under Stats, Log, Backup section:

Select all data to be backed up and click on Create backup:

NOTE:

  • If your website exceeds 10GB you might have trouble generating full backups. For that - delete any unused files or backups

A generated backup will look something like this:

Option 1 - FTP

One of the easiest ways to migrate your website is via FTP. Once you have a backup, all there is left to do is upload it here to Hostinger VPS, for that refer to this procedure:

  • Select FTP and fill in FTP details of the previous provider:

Keep in mind that backup needs to be renamed to your username on IV.LT, you can find the username on the bottom left corner of the control panel:

  • Choose to Use the IP from the list:

  • Choose the backup and hit the restore button:

Now that the backup is restored, all there is left to do is to point your domain to your Hostinger VPS and install free Let’s Encrypt SSL via DirectAdmin.

Option 2 - Manual migration

Once you have a backup, you will need to find it on your File Manager and simply click on it:

This will download it to your computer. Once the download is done all there is left to do is upload it here to Hostinger, for that refer to this procedure:

  • Upload the backup via an FTP client such as FileZilla

  • Rename the newly uploaded backup to any username, for example like this:

  • Choose a backup local path:

  • Choose to Use the IP from the list:

  • Choose the backup and hit the restore:

Now that the backup is restored, all there is left to do is to point your domain to your Hostinger VPS and install free Let’s Encrypt SSL via DirectAdmin.
