DirectAdmin is one of the OS templates available for our VPS plans. If you previously had a VPS with DirectAdmin with another host and wish to migrate your content to a Hostinger's DirectAdmin VPS, follow the steps below.
Step 1 - Generate a backup
Log in to your current VPS hosting panel, and look for the option to create a backup. The exact instructions may vary depending on your hosting provider.
Make sure to select all the data you want to migrate before creating the backup. If your provider has set size limits for backup creation, eg. 10GB or less and your file is larger, delete or exclude from the backup any unnecessary files.
Step 2 - Restore the backup
Option 1 - Using DirectAdmin FTP
You can restore the backup from your previous provider directly into your Hostinger VPS using FTP:
Navigate to the Admin Backup/Transfer section and click on Restore:
Select FTP and fill in FTP details of the previous provider. Keep in mind that the backup needs to be renamed to your username on your previous provider:
Choose to Use the IP from the list:
Mark the checkbox to the backup and click on the restore button:
After the backup is restored, you can point your domain to your Hostinger VPS and install free Let’s Encrypt SSL via DirectAdmin.
Option 2 - Manual Restoration
This is a good option if your previous VPS is no longer active and you have the backup file on your local device. To upload it:
Use an FTP client such as FileZilla.
Rename the newly uploaded backup to any username:
Navigate to the Admin Backup/Transfer section and click on Restore:
Choose the path of your backup:
Select to Use the IP from the list:
Mark the checkbox on the backup and click on the Restore button:
After the backup is restored, you can point your domain to your Hostinger VPS and install free Let’s Encrypt SSL via DirectAdmin.
