How to Improve Your Hosting's Download or Upload Speed

Understanding and solving a slow download or upload speed from and to your hosting plan

Updated over a year ago

The download and upload speeds you experience can be affected by the quality and speed of your local connection, as well as by the physical distance between you and the server.

If you experience general connection speed issues, you can consider contacting your internet service provider for alternatives. If the issue persists after verifying that your connection has a high bandwidth and low latency, you can try transferring your server.

At Hostinger, there are several locations you can choose from - make sure to select the one closest to you.

How to Choose the Server Location

Go to Websites → Manage, search for Plan Details on the left sidebar and click on it:

The Plan details menu option

Go to the Server details section and click on the Edit button:

The server Details section showing how to change server location

You will be presented with a list of available options. You can find a comprehensive guide here: How to transfer your hosting to a different server.

If you are looking to improve the speed for your website visitors around the world, you can also consider setting up a CDN 💡
