Understanding and fixing the ERR SSL VERSION OR CIPHER MISMATCH error

Updated over a year ago

If your website shows an error related to the SSL version or cipher mismatch and you are using Cloudflare, follow these steps to fix it:

Step 1 - Reset Universal SSL

Log in to your Cloudflare account at Cloudflare.com and disable Universal SSL:

After disabling it, wait a few minutes for changes to take effect, then enable Universal SSL again.

Step 2 - Clear the Cloudflare Cache

Now, to make sure that you are getting the latest version of your website, purge the Cloudflare cache.

Once it's done, give it a few minutes, and your site should be back up and working 😊

If you're not using Cloudflare or the issue persists, you can find more information in the following tutorial: How to Fix ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH
