Steps to restore backups on a fresh plan from a canceled account

Updated yesterday

If you find yourself with a canceled plan and no way to renew it - do not fret. We’re here to help you out! If you do not renew your plan within 30 days of its cancellation, it is no longer renewable. However, by following these steps, you can still restore your content on a new plan (Note: we only keep hosting file backups for up to 90 days after plan cancellation). Before contacting us for help, you should check if your backups are available for download on your side by checking the article on How to restore an expired hosting plan.

Step 1: Contact our Customer Success department to get backups

As the plan is now canceled, it is impossible for you to retrieve the backups manually. However, our Customer Success team is more than happy to help you out with this process! Simply login to your Hostinger account where the expired hosting is located at and follow the steps listed in this article: How to Contact Hostinger Support. Once you’re in, simply request for a backup of your files and/or databases of the canceled account. The Customer Success specialist will then prepare backup download links and send them straight to your email address associated with the Hostinger account.

Step 2: Purchase the Hosting Plan

As you now have downloaded the backup files, you can now purchase a new hosting plan to restore your files into. You can pick the same plan as you had previously, an even better one or get advice from our Customer Success team (see Step 1 on how to get in touch with our Customer Success team). If you choose to pick the plan yourself, you can do so straight from your hPanel, please see the instructions attached starting with Option 2 — From hPanel.

Step 3: Setup your Hosting Plan & Complete the restore

Now that you have your file and database backups at hand, it is time to set up the new hosting plan & restore the websites. In order to do that, simply follow the steps which start from option On the Target Account. Once you are done - your websites should be back up in no time!
