Restoring a backup on a different cPanel hosting plan at Hostinger

Updated over 7 months ago

You can easily restore your website backup on a different cPanel hosting plan by following the steps below:

On the Original Plan

Access the account on which your website is currently stored, and download the file and database backups to your local device - databases are required for the most popular CMS, such as WordPress, OpenCart, or Joomla.

On the Target Plan

Once you have completed the steps above in the original account, access the target Hostinger account and proceed with the following:

  1. Add the domain to your hosting if you didn't add it while setting up your new hosting plan

  2. Upload the backup file with File Manager or FileZilla

If your website has a database, you will also need to do the following:

  1. Update the database details in your website's configuration file

In case you get a database connection error after completing this procedure, follow this article: How to Fix "Error Establishing a Database Connection"

NOTES

  • To check the latest version of your website after this procedure, it is recommended to clear the cache

  • After the restoration, your website will be brought back to the state it was at the moment of backup creation. All the changes that were done after the backup date will be reverted
