Pointing a domain from Hostinger to Shopify

Updated over a month ago

To point your domain to Shopify, follow these steps:

Step 1 – Point the domain to Shopify

  1. If you have enabled Hostinger CDN, disable it.

  2. Remove the AAAA record for the root domain (@), if there is one.

  3. Remove the existing A record or the root domain (@):

  4. Remove the CNAME record for www.

  5. Add the following records to your domain's DNS zone:

Host: @

Points to: 23.227.38.65

TTL: default

Host: www

Points to: shops.myshopify.com

TTL: default

After making these changes, DNS propagation will begin. This process can take up to 24 hours. During this time, your website may be temporarily unavailable, but it will come back online once the process is complete.

Step 2 – Connect the domain to Shopify

  1. Log in to your Shopify account, and go to Settings → Domains.

  2. Click Connect existing domain.

  3. Enter the domain name and click Next.

If you are required to verify the domain:

  1. On the Shopify Settings → Domains page, locate the TXT value, and click Copy.

  2. Go back to your domain's DNS zone and add the TXT record as follows:

    1. Host: shopify_verification

    2. Points to: the value you copied from Shopify

    3. TTL: Default

  3. Wait a few hours for the verification record to propagate.

  4. After that time, log in to your Shopify account, and click Verify connection.

If the verification fails after adding the TXT record, wait up to 48 hours and try again.
