Node.js requires root access to the hosting environment, for instance, to ensure all the libraries and modules are installed, updated and enabled. Since root access is not available on our Web, WordPress and Cloud hosting plans, the alternative is a virtual private server (VPS).
If you're interested in using Node.js with our VPS Hosting, we have a pre-made template for you: Ubuntu 22.04 64bit with Node.js and OpenLiteSpeed. It will automatically install the high-performance OpenLiteSpeed web server, along with Node.js. OpenLiteSpeed also features an easy setup for SSL and RewriteRules.
This setup is over four times faster than Node.js with Nginx, so make sure to select it when purchasing any VPS plans and start using Node.js at Hostinger!
