For security reasons, all domains are locked by default to prevent unwanted transfers. Therefore, to transfer your domain from Hostinger or any other registrar, you first need to unlock it.

Unlocking a Hostinger Domain

The unlocking process can differ depending on the registrar. To unlock a domain that's registered at Hostinger, open the Domains section, and click on Manage next to the domain in question:

Opening the domain management page in Hostinger Members Area

On the next page, scroll to find the Transfer Lock section:

The "Transfer Lock" option on the domain management page

Disable the toggle to unlock your domain for transfer.

What to Do if the Transfer Lock Toggle Is Not There?

Some TLDs require the transfer lock option to be hidden. In this case, contact our Customer Success team.

Why Can’t a Domain Be Unlocked?

Domains that are recently registered or transferred can only be unlocked after 60 days from the registration or the last transfer.

If you're trying to unlock the domain, but it automatically gets locked again, it means that the domain cannot be unlocked at this moment, and you should wait until the 60-day period is over.

If your domain was purchased or transferred more than 60 days ago, but you still can't unlock it, contact our Customer Success team.

NOTE

  • After changing the domain status – be it from locked to unlocked or vice versa – you need to wait 12 hours until you can change the status again
