Transferring your .id domain to Hostinger: requirements and steps

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Transferring your domain is a great way to manage all your services in one place and transferring an Indonesian domain (with the .id extension) to Hostinger is a straightforward process, but there are certain steps and requirements that need to be followed. This guide will walk you through the steps to ensure that your .id domain transfer is smooth and successful.

Step 1 - Preparations

Before starting the domain transfer process, ensure the following:

  1. You have full ownership and control over the domain you intend to transfer.

  2. At least 60 days have passed since the domain was either registered or transferred to your current registrar.

  3. The domain is active: not suspended by the registry and not in the redemption period

  4. You have a valid EPP/Auth code from your current registrar

  5. Ensure DNSSEC is disabled. You can verify your DNSSEC status using the DNSSEC Checker tool.

Since domain transfers can take several days, it’s recommended to initiate the transfer with at least 16 days remaining before the domain expires.

Step 2 – Initiate the transfer

To initiate the transfer, follow these steps:

  1. Unlock your domain with your current registrar.

  2. Open the Hostinger Transfer Domain page (or Transfer Domain if you already have a Hostinger account).

  3. Insert your domain name and click on Transfer.

  4. Proceed with the payment.

  5. Enter the EPP code

  6. Choose whether you want to keep your current nameservers or use Hostinger nameservers and initiate the transfer. You will also have the option to keep your current records if you choose Hostinger nameservers.

Note: Once your order is completed, the domain transfer will start. You will receive an email to confirm the transfer, so make sure to confirm it.

Step 3 – Submit your documents

Below is a table outlining the requirements for each domain extension. Please ensure you have the necessary documents prepared before proceeding with the transfer to ensure a smooth process.

Note: The approval of your Indonesian domain transfer is fully handled by the registrar.

Common Domain Transfer Status

To find the current domain transfer status, go to Transfers page of hPanel and click on Manage next to the domain name:

  • Stuck in activating status: This means that the EPP code was invalid. Contact your domain registrar to generate a new alphanumeric EPP code and retry the domain transfer.

  • Denied by registrar or registrant: The confirmation email to approve the domain transfer was not accepted, and thus assumed to be denied. Retry the transfer again on your hPanel Transfers page and ensure to confirm the email that will be sent to you.
