Getting started with Redmine on your Hostinger VPS

Redmine is an open-source project management tool that facilitates task tracking, collaboration, and project planning. It supports multiple projects and offers features such as issue tracking, time tracking, and Gantt charts to help teams manage their workflows effectively. The platform also includes robust user management and role-based access controls, ensuring secure and organized project environments.

With Hostinger's Ubuntu 22.04 64bit with Redmine VPS template, setting up a Redmine environment is streamlined, as it comes pre-installed. This guide will help you get started with Redmine on your VPS.

Accessing Redmine

Open a web browser and go to:

http://redmine.[your-VPS-hostname] 

Replacing [your-VPS-hostname] with the hostname of your VPS.

On the top right corner, there is a Sign in option. After clicking on it, you will be redirected to the following page:

For the first time log in, use the default credentials:

  • Login: admin

  • Password: admin

After logging in, you will be directed to change the default password:

Make sure to set up a unique, strong password. After that, you can access Redmine with your new password.

To run Redmine on your domain, point your domain to the IP address of your VPS, change the server hostname, and reinstall the template.

Enrolling Users

Navigate to the Administration → Users , and click on New User. On the same tab, you can also assign Preferences, Information, Authentication, etc.

Creating projects

Go to Administration → Projects , and click on New project.

Projects in Redmine offer comprehensive management features, including issue tracking, time logging, and document sharing, to streamline team collaboration and productivity. They are highly customizable, allowing teams to tailor workflows, roles, and permissions to suit specific project needs.
