To move your domain name from one Hostinger account to another, follow the steps below 👇
Moving a domain between Hostinger accounts will not move your website files, databases, emails, or other related services. Only the domain name is moved 💡
During the process, your website and related services will not face any downtime.
Step 1 – Preparation
Before you begin:
Verify whether the top-level domain (TLD) of the domain you wish to transfer is one of the following:
A generic top-level domain (gTLD) such as .com, .net, .online, .store, etc.
One of these country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs):
.co.uk
.in
.co.in
.gen.in
.ind.in
.net.in
.org.in
Check if your domain name:
Has been registered for more than 96 hours.
Hasn't been transferred between Hostinger accounts within the past 10 days.
If these requirements are met, proceed with the next step. If not, scroll to the Troubleshooting section of this article – we will cover what to do in those cases.
Step 2 – Initiate the Domain Move
Go to the Domains section, open the Transfers tab on the left, and click on Move domain to another Hostinger account:
Select the domain from the list and click on Continue. Then, click on Initiate domain move:
Next, enter the destination email and click on Confirm:
You can cancel the domain move before the new owner confirms it by clicking on the Cancel button:
Step 3 – Confirm the Domain Move
To confirm the domain transfer, follow the steps below:
1. Log in to the destination Hostinger account. Then, go to the Domains section and click on Accept:
2. Click on Confirm:
3. Enter the new domain contact details:
Choose the country.
Select whether the domain is your personal property or belongs to a company/organization
Click on Next step.
Enter the correct contact details.
Finally, click on Finish registration.
Important: once you change the domain owner details, you may receive a verification message to both the current and new email addresses.
The domain move will be performed once the email address change is verified 💡
After the domain move is completed, the domain will be owned and managed from the new account.
Troubleshooting
Domain was moved less than 10 days ago
Domains can be moved once every 10 days; in this case, wait for the 10-day period to pass and attempt to move the domain again.
Country-code top-level domain
If your domain ccTLD is not .in or .co.uk, first, update the domain owner's contact details to identically match the contact details of the new Hostinger account:
If you receive a verification message to either or both of the current and new email addresses, make sure to confirm it.
After updating the domain owner's contact details, get in touch with our Customer Success team, and we will assist you in moving the domain.
Domain move failed
If you're getting the following error:
❌ Your domain move failed. There is already a pending action on this domain.
It means that the domain contact details change is already in progress. Please approve the new contact details first, and then try to move the domain name again.
