Connect your .AR or .COM.AR domain to a website hosted at Hostinger from NIC Argentina

Updated this week

.AR domains are a country-specific top-level domain (ccTLD) for Argentina. They are commonly used by websites, businesses, and organizations operating within the country and can only be registered through the official platform, nic.ar.

nic.ar does not support the creation of DNS zones on their platform. Therefore, to point your domain to Hostinger and manage your domain's records, you must use the nameserver method. Just follow these steps:

Step 1 – Preparations

Before pointing the domain, ensure that:

  1. You have full ownership and control of the domain name you want to connect to your website at Hostinger.

  2. You have access to the NIC.AR platform to manage domain delegation.

  3. The domain is already added to your hosting plan: How to add a website.

Step 2 – Get the required nameservers

Once the domain is added to your hosting plan:

  1. Go to the Websites section of hPanel.

  2. Find your website in the list and click on Check guide next to the Domain not connected message:

  3. The nameservers values required for your domain will be shown, they will look similar to this:

  4. Use the copy button to copy each nameserver and paste it into the NIC.AR platform in the next step.

The nameserver values provided in this step may vary depending on the domain. Always use the exact ones shown in your panel.

Step 3 – Delegate the domain

  1. Log in to your nic.ar account, find your domain name, and click Delegate (Delegar).

  2. Click Add a new delegation (Agregar una nueva delegación).

  3. Enter the Hostinger nameservers from the previous step and click on the save icon next to each.

  4. Click on Execute changes (Ejecutar cambios) to apply them.

Step 4 – Confirm the changes

On the page with the nameserver names, mark the checkbox to confirm the changes, then click on the Finish button to return to hPanel:

Now, allow up to 24 hours for DNS propagation. During this time, your website may be temporarily unavailable. Meanwhile, you can continue using the temporary domain to access your site.
