Changing the renewal period for your services

Updated this week

Changing your billing cycle means adjusting how often you pay for a service, whether it's hosting, email hosting, or a domain. Opting for a longer billing period often results in a lower average cost per month in most of our hosting services, providing you a better overall value.

For hosting and email hosting, the available renewal periods are one month, 12 months, 24 months, and 48 months. For domains, the shortest renewal period is one year.

Initial considerations

Before making changes to your renewal cycle, keep these points in mind:

  • The service must be active to modify its billing period and not be a one-time purchase such as a domain transfer.

  • Any pending renewal invoice must be paid before you can change the billing cycle.

  • If changing the billing cycle as part of a hosting upgrade, you can only select either the current billing period or 12 months.

  • Changing from a monthly to a yearly hosting plan does not qualify for a free domain.

Changing the billing cycle during manual renewal

This option allows you to adjust the billing cycle when renewing a subscription manually, regardless of whether auto-renewal is enabled. It’s particularly useful for subscriptions nearing their expiration date, but most services also allow renewal at any time.

If a renewal invoice has already been issued for this service, please cover this payment beforehand to enable the option to change the billing cycle.

Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Billing → Subscriptions in hPanel, locate the order, and click Renew now:

  2. Select your preferred billing cycle from the dropdown list:

  3. Proceed with the payment to apply the new billing cycle along with the renewal.

Once the payment is completed, the updated billing cycle will take effect immediately.

Change the billing cycle with auto-renewal enabled

If auto-renewal is activated, you can change the billing cycle at any time without paying for an immediate renewal, as long as there are no pending renewal invoices:

  1. Go to Billing → Subscriptions in hPanel, locate the service, and click on the arrow next to the service (❯)

  2. Under Billing period, click Change:

  3. In the pop-up window, choose the new billing cycle from the dropdown menu and click Save.

The new billing cycle will start with the next renewal date. To ensure the change applies seamlessly, it's recommended to allow the service to renew automatically. If you choose to renew manually before the renewal date, you’ll only be able to renew for the current billing cycle's duration.
