Accessing and setting up LXDE Desktop on Hostinger’s VPS
Updated over a week ago

LXDE Desktop is one of the OS templates available for our VPS plans, you can choose it while setting up your VPS for the first time or change it later anytime.

Requirements

You will need VNC viewer software to connect to Remote Desktop. We recommend this software:

Mac/Linux: RealVNC viewer

NOTES:

  • Recommended VPS memory size greater than 2 GB

  • You can change your VNC root password by opening a new terminal and typing changevncpassword newpassword command. Password length must be between 6-8 characters

Logging in

Once you got your VPS running with LXDE you will be able to log in with VNC viewer by using this URL your_vps_ip:5901

The default login details will be as follows:

Username: root

Password: first 8 characters of your root password

Using RealVNC viewer

If you will be choosing RealVNC, the first thing you will need to do is download it here. Once you have it paste your VPS IP along with 5901 port like this:

You will receive a warning about the VNC server being not encrypted, click Continue and proceed. On the next screen, you will be asked to enter your password, enter the first 8 characters of your root password.

That’s it! Now you know how to get LXDE Desktop up and running 😊
